In general, porcelain is a very durable ceramic. But, just like porcelain sinks, tubs, and toilets, it is breakable. There are no highly toxic minerals used in the production of these pots, so there is no danger of toxic leaching. Porcelain ware can withstand high temperatures and is safe to use in a dishwasher, microwave, and oven; however, there are a few precautions you will want to take to avoid potential breakage.
Dishwasher
- The only thing that will harm the ware in a dishwasher is banging with significant force against another hard object. Take care in loading so that edges will not be subjected to this type of contact with other objects.
Oven and Microwave
- When using in the oven, toaster oven, convection oven, or air fryer, the main concern is extreme temperature change that could cause thermal shock and result in cracking. For this reason it is recommended that you not place the ware into a preheated oven or take it directly from a refrigerator or freezer into the oven. There are no common issues for use in a microwave oven, so you should be safe there.
Stove Top
-Never use pottery on a stove top; the uneven heating from the bottom is certain to cause damage.
With these simple precautions your pottery should last indefinitely; so please use and enjoy!
